About Top Steps

Top Steps is a unique, experiental program for women that affords secure, accelerated learning environment and peer support base, with the outcome of enhancing participants' leadership capabilities and behaviours at the frontline. Creating the time and space to focus on career goals and personal goals is a challenge, though an essential investment in the development of an emerging leader.

Objectives of the Top Steps Program:

  • To provide participants with a clear picture of the different forms of leadership roles and opportunities in today's world
  • To increase self-awareness and accountability
  • To identify leadership and management preferences and development opportunities
  • To review career goals and create a personal development plan
  • To afford greater work / life balance
  • To enhance participants' leadership competencies and behaviours through experiential learning

Who would benefit from attending Top Steps?

  • People managers with up to 2 years management experience
  • Aspiring or new people managers
  • Project managers and specialists keen to develop their leadership potential

What's Unique about Top Steps?

  • Top Steps runs over a 9 week period and incorporates 4 individual coaching sessions with highly experienced corporate coaches plus 4 half-day group sesions for up to 16 people
  • An additional coaching session will be scheduled 3 months after the program completion to embed learnings and behaviours
  • Group sessions are facilitated by a member of the Steps Faculty, comprising of individuals with strong corporate backgrounds, and extensive consulting and management development expertise

An Experiential Learning Environment that Enables Participants to:

  • Gain a clear picture of preferred personal leadership and management styles, strengths and development areas
  • Explore leadership and management issues using real-life examples and experiences
  • Share issues, insights and experiences with a peer group in a safe and secure environment
  • Implement learnings in the workplace and review results in the individual coaching sessions
  • Meet and hear from senior managers and role models to learn from challenges and issues they experienced throughout their careers
  • Review career and personal develpoment plans in light of their style, competencies, values and work / life balance goals
