About Professional Step

Professional Step will provide participants with the space to identify, practice and cultivate the core leadership competencies they must develop within themselves on order to manage, motivate and coach their team to meet the increasing expectations of the business.

Transitioning from an individual contributor to first-time manager, then adapting to increased management responsibilities is a challenging stage in any individual's career path. But it is at this time that, if afforded the opportunity, managers can mature into true professionals.

Objectives of the Professional Step Program

  • To enchance participants' self-awareness and discover how others see them as a leader
  • To explore and develop behavioural choices to leverage leadership and management capability and realise true potential
  • To afford greater work / life balance
  • To review career strategies and refine career goals
  • To update personal development plans

Who would benefit from attending Professional Step? 

  • Middle Managers, typically with more than 2 years experience managing people and performance
  • Senior project managers and specialists seeking to develop their leadership skills
  • High performing managers in your organisation's talent pool, who have completed Top Steps

What's Unique about Professional Step?

  • Professional Step runs over a 9 week period and incorporates 4 individual coaching sessions with highly experienced corporate coaches plus 4 half-day sessions for up to 16 people
  • An additional coaching session will be scheduled 3 months after the program completion to embed learnings and behaviours
  • Group sessions are facilitated by a member if the Steps Faculty, comprising of individuals with strong corporate backgrounds, and extensive consulting and management development expertise
  • Upon completion, participants may elect to enrol in the Advanced component of the Professional Step program, to further enhance capabilities and embed learnings

An Experiential Learning Environment that Enables Participants to:

  • Understand the leadership and management trends and issues in today's world and the emerging behavioural competencies required
  • Asses the implication of these trends on their role as a leader and manager
  • Explore leadership and management issues using real-life examples
  • Share issues, insights and experiences with a peer group in a safe and secure environment
  • Implement learnings in the workplace and review in the individual coaching sessions
  • Review their career and personal development plans in light of their increased awareness of their impact on their team and other professionals
  • A Positive Impact on Participants' Leadership Behaviours and Competencies through:
  • Understanding the core behavioural competencies required to drive a successful change both personally and as a leader and manager
  • Gaining a clear picture of their impact on others and their view of their personal leadership and management style, strenghts and development areas
  • Accessing senior executives and role models to understand the challenges and issues they faced on their way up the corporate ladder
  • Broadening their network and become part of a strong Professional Step alumni group for future support and mentoring
